Due to the current situation caused by the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, the implementation of cross-border training and project meetings is currently excluded. In coordination with the Austrian National Agency, the project duration was therefore extended by 6 months until 31.10.2021.

InnoTrain calls to promote work-based learning in all its forms and support professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors in school and work-based settings. The partnership follows the priorities given by the New Skills Agenda namely making VET a first choice with an active involvement of business-education and social partners to design and deliver WBL in all forms. WBL uses the workplace as a powerful experiential learning setting reducing the risk of discrepancies regarding qualifications. Regional and local stakeholders must increase and innovate cooperation structures for bridging the gap between education/training and the labor market in order to unlock the educational potential behind the work based element in education. This concern about youth unemployment is the first priority in the Commission Work program 2017 and transversal aim in E+ Work program 2018.

During the term of InnoTrain, relevant stakeholders from Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece will work on a 30 months basis undertaking actions to investigate common regional problems and challenges preventing an effective and sustainable development and consolidation of VET-Business partnerships. Active capacity building actions and programs for VET-business professionals will be conceived and delivered in order to create qualified multiplier practitioners able to grant a quality WBL element in education and proficient development of cooperation structures involving local stakeholders as a live network for concrete local impacts on learners' future.

The OVERALL OBJECTIVE of the project is to create transferable outputs for the upgrade of professional competences of practitioners daily involved in VET-business relationships and delivery of WBL programs pointing on qualitative growth of high quality skills and competences. On the other hand, we intend to investigate and develop new strategies for effective VET-business cooperation structures involving complementary local stakeholders, but with an outlook at exploitation in other EU regions.
